Perché sono qui oggi? perché finalmente ho fatto delle foto all'interminabile maglione di Francesco. Per fortuna l'ho ultimato un paio di mesi fa così è riuscito ad indossarlo prima che l'inverno volgesse al termine :)

 

Why am I here today? because I finally took some pics of my endless Francesco's sweater. Luckily I got it ready a couple of months ago so he wore it before winter was over :)

 

 

Ok, mi ci è voluta una vita per finirlo ma non importa. Sono così soddisfatta!!

La maglia per uomini è una sfida. Per prima cosa sembra sempre che non si debba mai finire il lavoro, poi le linee essenziali rischiano di rendere la lavorazione abbastanza noiosa. Io ho scelto una schema interessante, con delle coste lungo i fianchi e un bel taglio sul collo. Cucire la cerniera è stata una sfida nella sfida.

Il filato è un bel cachemire misto a lana d'agnello.

 

Ok, it took me ages to finish this but I don't care. I'm so satisfied!!

Knitting for men is a challenge. First of all it seems you will never finish your work, besides the essential shapes may make the knitting quite boring. I chose an interesting pattern instead, with some ribbing on the sides and an attractive collar. Sewing the zip was my dare too.

The yarn is a great cachemire mixed with lambswool.

 

 

È stato il mio primo bottom-up e devo ammettere che ho riscontrato qualche problema con questo tentativo iniziale perché è risultato troppo lungo ma me ne sono accorta solo dopo aver attaccato le maniche. Così ho cominciato a vagare nel web in cerca di una soluzione e ho adottato il metodo della "safeline": ho posto un filo lungo tutti i punti di un giro in modo da non lasciare cadere neanche una maglia e quindi ho tagliato nel punto in cui dovevo accorciare e ho tirato tirato tirato...e ha funzionato!

 

This has been my first bottom-up and actually I experienced some troubles with my attempt because I made it too long but realized that only after I attached the sleeves. Then I surfed the web looking for a solution and found the "safeline": I put a thread all around the stitches of a round in order not to let them fall over and then I cut the yarn and pull it to shorten my sweater. And it worked!

È tutto un fare e disfare

I’m spending all my free time these weeks unravelling and reknitting. Who has never “destroyed” her/his work to make it better? My last three projects has walked the same path. Almost finished, then unravelled and finally reknitted from the beginning… even though one of them has been more lucky. But it will be told later.

Ho passato tutto il tempo libero di queste ultime settimane disfacendo e rifacendo. Chi non ha mai “distrutto” il proprio lavoro per farlo meglio? I miei ultimi tre progetti hanno avuto lo stesso percorso. Quasi terminati, poi disfatti e infine ricominciati da zero… anche se uno di loro ha avuto migliore fortuna. Ma sarà narrato in seguito.

Today’s time for my new cloche: it had to match my turquoise mojito and my hair style as well. Since I have curly one, beanies don’t suit me very much. I need my hats to be slouchy enough on my head.

Oggi è il momento della mia nuova cloche: doveva adattarsi al mio turquoise mojito e anche ai miei capelli. Dato che li ho ricci, il modello beanie (quello aderente, per intenderci) non mi dona granché. Ho bisogna di indossare cappelli abbastanza morbidi sulla testa.

Surfing on ravelry, I found Célimène cloche so sophisticated that wanted to try and make one for me straightaway. The first attempt was not perfect at all, since it was too tight-fitting but I realized it quite late: it was almost finished! However, I couldn’t keep it…I would never have worn it.
So I picked the thread and pull it at once and in a few minutes I had my yarn ball ready to be casted on again. And there we go: now my hat is enchanting to me :)

Vagando su ravelry, ho trovato la Célimène cloche così raffinata che ho voluto subito provare a farne una per me. Il primo tentativo non è stato affatto perfetto, dato che è risultato troppo attillato ma me ne sono resa conto troppo tardi: era quasi finito! Ad ogni modo non potevo tenerlo…non lo avrei mai indossato.
Così ho preso l’estremità del filo e ho tirato tutto in una volta e nel giro di qualche minuto avevo di nuovo lì pronto a guardarmi il mio bel gomitolone per un nuovo avvio. E così adesso ho il mio nuovo copricapo che trovo assolutamente incantevole :)

And what to do with my 20gr of yarn left from the two main projects?
A bangle, of course!
I can’t believe there’s somebody who doesn’t know yet my wool bracelets addiction…

E cosa fare dei 20 grammi di filato rimasto dai due progetti principali?
Un bracciale naturalmente!

Il kal della knitter perfetta

Da circa un mese abbiamo iniziato un interessante e utile kal che dimostra quanto possa rivelarsi soddisfacente realizzare capi a maglia per se stessi. L’obiettivo è creare il nostro guardaroba perfetto! L’idea è nata da una serie di post pubblicati sul blog di Tibisay e finora ha già raccolto un largo numero di knitters :)

For about a month we have started a nice and useful kal that shows well how satisfying can be to knit for ourselves. Our aim is to create our own perfect wardrobe! The idea was born by a series of posts published on Tibisay’s blog and has gathered a large number of knitters so far :)

In pratica, ogni mese viene scelto un capo e ci lavoriamo contemporaneamente. Questo è un progetto libero: potete prendervi parte in qualunque momento, potete realizzare un maglione questo mese e decidere di non aderire alla proposta del mese successivo. Potreste inoltre già avere nel vostro armadio qualcosa di già pronto e basterà mettiate un segno nella vostra personale lista come “già posseduto” ;) Potreste a questo punto chiedervi: quando devo finire? bella notizia: potrete prendervi tutto il tempo che vi occorre, non ci sono limiti…questo è un progetto ideale e l’unica sfida è quella contro noi stesse! Allora, siete dei nostri?

Each month we choose a garment and we knit it along. This is a free project: you can be part of it whenever you want, you can knit a sweater this month and decide not to make the cardigan of the following month. You can also have something already knitted, so that you can mark them as already owned ;) You might wonder: when am I supposed to finish? Poltrire con eleganza

Sì, in inverno mi piace stare in casa a leggere, sorseggiare il té, guardare film, ascoltare musica, lavorare a maglia.
Non sono affatto asociale, ma avverto l’urgenza di stare per conto mio almeno un paio d’ore al giorno, facendo qualcosa solo per me. So che non è sempre possibile purtroppo.

Yes, in winter I like staying at home reading, drinking tea, watching movies, listening to music, knitting.
I’m not misanthropic at all, but I need to stay on my own at least a couple of hours a day, doing something just for me. I can’t do it every day but I would.

Un paio di sere fa ho trascorso le mie due-ore-per-me-stessa facendomi un paio di babbucce. Il mio primo paio. Mi sono innamorata subito dello schema non appena l’ho visto ma non ero al tempo ancora in grado di lavorarle. Adesso eccole qui finalmente!!

A couple of evenings ago I spent my two-hours-for-myself crocheting a pair of slippers. My first one. I fell in love with the pattern at first sight but wasn’t able to make them. Finally they are here!!

Non sono adorabili? Ricordate, anche nel momento del relax: oziare un po’ non significa mai essere sciatte!

Wool bangles mania

My addiction to wool accessories is well known… A couple of years ago I fell in love with wool bangles and started a series which will never have an end!

La mia mania per gli accessori in lana e ben nota… Un paio di anni fa mi ho perso la testa per i bracciali di lana e ne ho iniziato una serie che non avrà mai fine!

The picture below shows you a gift to a special friend, a woman I met not too many years ago and with whom I’ve been in a very good relationship for a couple of years. This has been a little way to say “thank you” to her. She’s not a blogger, there are no web links to her. Her name’s Maria Antonietta.

La foto sotto mostra un regalo che ho fatto ad un’amica speciale, una persona che ho conosciuto non molti anni fa e con la quale ho instaurato un bellissimo rapporto da un paio di anni. Questo è stato un piccolo modo per dirle “grazie”. Non è una blogger, non ci sono link cui reindirizzarvi stavolta. Solo il suo nome: Maria Antonietta.

Gingerbread men army

This winter I’ve been in the kitchen baking cookies and cakes more than ever I think. I like getting something ready to eat for a special occasion or to make someone happier. My special gifts for this Christmas holidays have been Gingerbread men.

Questo inverno credo di aver passato in cucina più tempo del solito infornando torte e biscotti. Mi piace preparare qualcosa di buono per un’occasione speciale o per rendere qualcuno un po’ più felice. I miei speciali regali di Natale per queste feste sono stati gli omini di pan di zenzero.

I took my idea from here. I also used her recipe (you’ll find it in the same post following the link) and I found it perfect.

L’idea l’ho presa qui. Ho usato anche la sua ricetta (la trovate nello stesso post seguendo il link) ed è stata perfetta.

My work was not completed until I made the icing to give a face to my men and put some clothes on them ;) It took me long to get all this army ready, I must say…but finally I was very satisfied! Then I put some men inside each bag and decorated it with just some red paper and a ribbon.

Il mio lavoro non si è completato fino a quando non ho preparato la glassa per dare ai miei omini un volto e anche un vestito ;) Mi ci è voluto un po’ di tempo devo dire per decorare il mio esercito…ma alla fine sono stata pienamente soddisfatta del risultato! Infine ho messo alcuni omini in ogni busta e l’ho decorata con della carta rossa e un nastro.

As you can guess, my little men have been appreciated especially by children…try and make them for your kids and you will achieve resounding success!

Come immaginerete, i miei omini sono stati apprezzati soprattutto dai più piccoli…provate a prepararli per i vostri bambini e vedrete che farete un successone!
